Recientemente se conoció que el senador Carlos Losada y el Gobernador del Meta, Juan Guillermo Zuluaga, han tenido choques en redes sociales por la situación de orden público que vive el departamento.
Inicialmente, el senador Losada señaló en nombre del partido Farc el rechazo a los constantes operativos que ha desarrollado el ejército en la región del Meta, Guaviare y Caquetá y que, si bien tienen como objetivo detener la deforestación de los Parques Nacionales Naturales, han resultado en violaciones a los derechos humanos de los campesinos.
Entre las peticiones que manifiesta el senador está reducir la presencia militar e impulsar el cumplimiento de los acuerdos suscritos en la Mesa de Concertación Nacional e implementar la Agenda Ambiental Campesina Étnica, a lo que el Gobernador del Meta respondió que reducir la presencia del ejército permitiría que las disidencias armadas «reinen» en el departamento.
Zuluaga explicó que, de no ser por los operativos militares, continuarían las extorsiones, deforestación, reclutamiento de menores y el Meta se convertiría nuevamente en «el epicentro de carteles trasnacionales de la droga» por lo que rechazó la solicitud de reducir la presencia de la fuerza pública en la región.
Losada replicó que los campesinos recurren a subsistir de cultivos ilícitos por el abandono del estado y la pobre gestión que han realizado los entes territoriales en la región y aseguró que la única meta del Ejército es expulsar campesinos de sus tierras para entregarlas a empresas multinacionales.
