Los estudiantes de la Institución Educativa Santa Teresa y la comunidad del corregimiento de Punto Nuevo llevaron a cabo una jornada de siembra de árboles nativos y ornamentales. Esta actividad se realizó como parte de una estrategia para concientizar sobre la importancia de la preservación y protección del medio ambiente, en aras de promover la salud y el bienestar de todos los seres vivos que habitan en este entorno.
La iniciativa fue encabezada por la rectora de la Institución Educativa, Licenciada Omaira Alarcón, y el presidente de la Asociación de Juntas Administradoras Locales del corregimiento, Helver Farasica. Ambos contaron con el respaldo de la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Cambio Climático, así como de la Secretaría de Desarrollo Económico, Ganadería y Agricultura, quienes se sumaron proporcionando 190 plántulas de especies como Flor Amarillo, Gualandai, Ceiba, Saúco Amarillo y Guayacán.
Durante la jornada, el personal de la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Cambio Climático brindó su acompañamiento en la siembra de estas especies, las cuales fueron plantadas tanto en los alrededores de la Institución Educativa, como a lo largo de la vía principal del corregimiento.
Entre tanto, el Edil Helver Farasica, expresó su gratitud hacia la Administración Municipal por su apoyo a la iniciativa. Destacó la importancia de esta labor y la voluntad de la comunidad para respaldarla.
Por otro lado, Pilar Salcedo, docente de la I.E. Santa Teresa, resaltó la sensibilización que se impartió hacia los estudiantes y padres de familia acerca del cuidado del medio ambiente.
