El ministro del Interior, Ahmad Vahidi, dijo que los equipos de rescate habían tenido dificultades para llegar al lugar debido a las difíciles condiciones meteorológicas.
Raisi viajaba a la ciudad de Tabriz, en el noroeste del país, tras regresar de un acto en la frontera de Irán con Azerbaiyán, según medios locales.

En el helicóptero también viajaba el jefe de la diplomacia iraní, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, protagonista de las continuas conversaciones con aliados y rivales desde el inicio en octubre de la guerra de Israel en Gaza.
Desde que Raisi asumió la presidencia, Abdollahian fue el enviado a negociar para evitar el aislamiento de Irán, sujeto a sanciones internacionales.
Reacciones
Tras enterarse de la noticia, el presidente ruso, Vladimir Putin, ofreció sus condolencias, y describió a Raisi como un “verdadero amigo de Rusia” y un “político destacado”.
Mientras que el presidente de China, Xi Jinping, se refirió a él como un “buen amigo” del pueblo chino, y añadió que su “trágica muerte” era una “gran pérdida para el pueblo iraní”, según reporta la agencia Reuters.
Otros aliados de Irán también expresaron sus condolencias, como el presidente de Turquía, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, el recientemente electo primer ministro de Pakistán, Shehbaz Sharif, y el presidente de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
