Desde muy pequeño soñó con hacer deporte. A diferencia de otros niños de su edad, no le dio por el futbol, ya que aunque le apasionaba, cada que iba a los partidos lo dejaban al margen por su corta estatura y escaso dominio de la número cinco. Hasta que una tía suya, observó la situación y lo llevó al baloncesto, donde siempre figuró.
Juan Sebastián Vera Morales nació en Yopal hace 19 años y desde hace siete se dedica a encestar. Hoy encuentra premio a su perseverancia, al ser parte del equipo de Casanare en el campeonato de baloncesto 3×3 de los I Juegos Nacionales Juveniles.
“Desde que me metí al baloncesto, mi ambición siempre ha sido ser el mejor, poder llegar a una selección Colombia, ganar un torneo nacional y aspiro que sea la de oro para mi departamento en estos Juegos”, confiesa este estudiante de cuarto semestre de ingeniería civil en la Unitropico.
Es tal vez, hoy por hoy, el mejor lanzador del torneo de baloncesto 3×3 de las justas.
“Al jugador de la liga nacional que más admiro es a Romario de Caribbean y a nivel mundial el jugador de mis preferencias y quisiera ser como el, es Stephen Curry, armador de los Golden Warriors, porque para no ser tan alto es un gran jugador y con un gran tiro de tres”.
Tantos espejos para tener su estilo propio, el cual se forma con una sana ambición. “Vinimos por la de oro, fuimos terceros en el clasificatorio y ya enfrentamos a Antioquia que les había ganado a todos por 21 y le ganamos, vamos bien, queremos ser primeros para llevar el metal dorado al llano, a Casanare”, advierte.
Así es Juan Sebastián, que porta en su camiseta el número 3 y con su pulso fino ya enamoró a los aficionados que llegan al coliseo de la Universidad del Quindío para aplaudir su liderazgo y eficacia en el lanzamiento, que tienen al equipo casanareño como único puntero del torneo. Y es que el lanzamiento de dos puntos no solo es un recurso sino la base primordial del baloncesto 3×3.
