ONU indica que 73 defensores de DD.HH. han sido asesinados en Colombia
La Oficina de la ONU para los Derechos Humanos en Colombia informó el martes que al menos 73 defensores de DD.HH. fueron asesinados en el país entre enero y noviembre de 2021.
«Desde el 1 de enero al 30 de noviembre de 2021, la Oficina de la ONU para los Derechos Humanos conoció 191 alegaciones de homicidios de personas defensoras. De estas ha verificado 73 casos, 35 casos están en proceso de verificación y 83 casos son no concluyentes», detalló el organismo en su último informe.
De los 66 defensores y siete defensoras asesinados, la mayor cifra se registró en el departamento del Valle del Cauca con 31, de los cuales 22 ocurrieron en su capital, Cali, que fue el centro de las protestas contra la agenda económica y social del presidente Iván Duque.
Le siguieron los departamentos de Cauca (11), Antioquia (seis), Cundinamarca (cinco), Norte de Santander (cuatro), Chocó (tres) y Santander (dos).
El resto de casos se reportaron en las entidades de Arauca, Caldas, Caquetá, Córdoba, Huila, La Guajira, Meta, Putumayo, Risaralda, Nariño y Tolima.
En tanto el Instituto de Estudios para el Desarrollo y la Paz (Indepaz) registra 159 líderes sociales defensores de derechos humanos asesinados en el mismo período de este año 2021.
De igual forma, la Defensoría del Pueblo registra 130 líderes sociales y defensores de derechos humanos asesinados en el país en la misma etapa.
A pesar de que la cifra es inferior a los 182 cometidos en el mismo período de 2020, los defensores de derechos humanos y los líderes sociales enfrentan graves peligros para su vida en esta nación suramericana.
