El sueño de una niña, ahora joven, está ya en proceso, es Sofía López Naranjo de 17 años, destacada deportista de tenis de campo de Casanare, quien, a sus 5 años, saltó a las canchas para comenzar a labrar su historia, hoy ya es parte del equipo de la prestigiosa Universidad Golden – Beacom College en Estados Unidos.
Para sus padres, Carlos López y Catalina Naranjo, quienes hablaron para Colosal Noticias, no hay palabras que describa lo orgulloso que se sienten al ver a su hija triunfar agradecen a Dios.
ʻSofiʻ como se le conoce cariñosamente, comenzó a jugar tenis con el profesor Edgar Muñoz, quien entrenó a Fabiola Zuluaga y María Camila Osorio en la ciudad de Cúcuta. Fue campeona consecutiva en las Copas Milo que se desarrollaban en varias ciudades de Colombia, luego cuando tenía 9 años llegó a Yopal, donde entrenó en Manacor con los entrenadores Javier Gómez y Jonathan Hidalgo.
Defendiendo los colores casanareños, quedó subcampeona de Interligas de 12 y 14 años, también medalla de bronce en 16 años de Interligas. Estuvo en Juegos Nacionales en representación de la Liga de Tenis de Campo de Casanare, donde también ganó varios partidos; a llegado a ser la 5 de Colombia en el ranking de 12 años.
Hay que destacar, que fue el campeonato que obtuvo en el grado 1 de Barranquilla, además en 14 años fue quinta mejor de Colombia y ha estado entre las mejores 20 de Suramérica.
Sofía ha pisado las mejores canchas de países como Paraguay, Bolivia, Ecuador Panamá y en Estados Unidos en el Orang Bowl y jugando ITF J30, J100, J 200 y J300 en los cuadros principales, entre otros tantos logros.
El sueño de pronto americano para la jovencita, está en desarrollo, pues hace unas semanas viajó al país norteño, fue becada por una universidad donde actualmente es la raqueta # 2 del equipo universitario, entre 11 jugadoras, siendo la única colombiana y demostrando siempre que está para grandes cosas.
